The End 2024 Ac3.BRRip Magnet Link
Tale
After decades of isolation, a wealthy family living in a salt mine encounters a stranger
Joshua Oppenheimer has described the film as an exploration of whether we, as humans, can reach a place where our guilt is too great to recover from our past. I don’t think I’ve been as excited for a film as I was nervous in a long time. Oppenheimer’s feature debut was bound to be an uncompromising and singular vision, but I haven’t really seen anything like it.
Technically, this film has it covered
They clearly have no idea how to market this film since Neon is supposed to be in limited release in December and there’s still no poster or trailer. I digress, but this film really lifted my spirits for most of its runtime. Really interesting and detailed environment, the cinematography and use of lighting are also key and work to contextualize the scenes.
The weak links are in the story and the music
While I don’t think the golden age musical is necessarily a gimmick, I don’t think it’s as fully realized or utilized as well as they hoped. I’d say I was committed to at least half the songs, but they all feel the same. Aside from the moments where it feels like the visuals are supposed to coincide with what’s happening, it’s just people walking around and singing whatever they feel.
That said, I really enjoyed this film
And it’s also a very vague film thematically, sort of having its eggs in too many baskets without really giving anything away. When it’s not scratching the surface of something profound, it can often feel trite. It’s not for everyone and the guy next to me was visibly bored, with my girlfriend saying she’d probably never watch it again but liked it enough.
You can’t put it in a box and there’s nothing like it that I think is worth a watch
While it doesn’t seek to satisfy any lingering questions you might have, or any larger questions, it does beg you for something and ask, “Are we too far gone, or guilty, to get over this? Our past?”
