Filmed on location in Charleston, SC; It was originally supposed to be filmed in Wilmington, North Carolina.. I like this show, but sometimes it can be very unpleasant to watch.

He doesn’t even remotely look like a 16-year-old

The acting is decent, but as many others have noted, the casting is a bit ridiculous. The main actor, who plays a 16-year-old teenager, is almost 30. All the actors playing the teenagers are too old for the roles they were cast in, and it kind of spoils the immersion for me. Is it really that hard to find decent actors who at least look the age of the role they are playing?

But this is hardly the main problem

The high-level story is good, but the details are where this show falls apart. All the drama and tension is created by the characters doing stupid things. The silliness ranges from mild to incredibly dense, but it’s always what drives the drama. It’s hard to find likable characters when they constantly do stupid things and never learn or grow.

And not only teenagers are stupid

None of the policemen follow the procedure, because if they did, the story would not have happened. Whenever a character does something clever, it has to be ruined by someone doing something incredibly stupid, because, again, then the story wouldn’t happen. I wish the writers would have spent a little more time coming up with different ways to move the story forward, maybe making the antagonists smart instead of the heroes stupid. I finished watching the second season and I don’t regret watching it.
