Landman, at least someone who works in the oil industry, will act as a middleman between exploration companies and landowners. Typically, a landman’s job is to negotiate and finalize deals with landowners who hold mineral rights to lease those rights to the company they represent.

Basically, they manage the land and secure leases so they can drill for oil and gas. Like a foreman on a construction site, they build roads, worker housing (human camp), assemble excavation machinery, and drill the well itself, especially in remote locations. They are also part fixer, problem solvers, and facilitators.

I’m sure you’ll know which one!

Landman is my first Taylor Sheridan series, so I don’t have the expectations that a Yellowstone fan seems to have. The main plot so far is engaging and exciting, but not too far-fetched. There are a few subplots that work well in the episodes, but perhaps one of them detracts from the overall quality of the show.

The actors portray their characters well

The visual production is remarkable; the direction and creation of the environment is remarkable. It would be interesting to hear from those who work in the industry how realistic the field scenes are. Billy Bob Thornton is exemplary and directs the show very well.

Overall, a very good show, visually well done and brilliantly acted
