Where is Iztuzu Beach?
Iztuzu beach is a Mediterranean beach with a length of 4.5 km located near the town of Dalyan in the Ortaca district of Muğla. The beach is one of the rare beaches between sea water and fresh water. The beach is also called “Turtle Beach” due to the fact that Caretta carettas lay their eggs. The areas where the eggs are laid are regularly marked so that those who swim on the beach cannot damage the eggs. .
According to the decision taken in 1988, the beach is closed between 20:00-08:00 to avoid disturbing the turtles and it is forbidden to make noise or light lights around it. There is also a treatment centre on the beach where injured turtles are treated.
The beach, which attracts great attention of tourists, has received many awards worldwide for its naturalness and cleanliness.
