After the disappointing fourth season of Jack Ryan and generally poor performances worldwide, this was much better in every way.

Great acting by everyone

It looks really good and the action/fight scenes look amazing. I feel like most of the criticism of this show in the comments comes down to how unrealistic it is because of the whole female operator thing, and as a guy I don’t mind a good female-led action series as long as it’s an original IP that doesn’t turn the male lead into a woman. Other than that I haven’t seen any red flags yet like they make every male lead look incompetent or anything like that.

PS: Nicole Kidman’s role so far is incredibly small and uneventful and could have been played by anyone else

Also, at first I thought it was going to be a no nonsense action focused series but then they kind of delved into the family and I usually cringe at that but I didn’t like what they did there. The criticism is that the plot of what this particular group of cameramen are doing is very limiting to the story and could kill it by going beyond the plot/villain of the season… it needs to be more encompassing so they could possibly do a new, more intense and dynamic Homeland movie, otherwise it risks becoming too episodic like The Blacklist.

We’ll see what the great Morgan Freeman brings to the show

But from what I’ve seen so far the show could do just fine with Zaldan without any other A-Lister. TLDR Overall Cautiously optimistic but I like what I’m seeing so far, everything is incredibly polished and well done. It’s funny, even if it’s not the History channel that some commentators seem to prefer.
